Tracking a Food Trigger

Well I’m back to my old tricks. I have started counting calories again. Well, I actually didn’t start back for the typical weight loss reason, but rather to see if I can track what may be triggering my reoccurring atopic dermatitis (eczema). I use the fancy term because I recently read that eczema can come in many different forms. Who knew!

Anyway, my flair ups started almost a year ago when I noticed a little red patch on the skin in the fold of my arm. It didn’t go away for several weeks and then suddenly disappeared. A month later, it was back. After some research, I self diagnosed myself with the skin disorder. Although I haven’t been to a doctor, I truly feel part of my flair ups are diet related.

I’ve read that anything from meat to dairy can trigger an outbreak.

So now I am on a mission to find the food or foods that is causing my little red patch! You can’t get past me, sneaky trigger food! My hope is that after a few weeks I will be able to clearly spot the attributing culprit and I can slowly begin to cut it out of diet. My guess is that it is chocolate. Any guesses?

My Healthy Tip of the Day: If you think something funky is happening with your body, get it checked out. You know yourself better than anyone, so you’ll be able to spot something abnormal a lot faster than anyone else. Although in my particular case I did use the internet for an informal diagnosis, I do not recommend this. Don’t take a chance on your health; get to a doctor!
